Sympathy and prayers of comfort are offered to the family and friends of long-time church member and dear friend Russ Barber, who passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at the age of 96. Russ is survived by, Gloria, his wife of 67 years; his son, David Barber; his daughter Sandra Barber Bernert; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation hours start at 4 pm on Wednesday, September 22 at Laughlin Funeral Home.
The public memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 23 at 11:30 AM, at the MLUMC sanctuary. All are welcome to attend.
The interment service will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that a contribution be made to Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church.

Obituary
Age 96, recently of Mt. Lebanon, and formerly of Baldwin Twp., passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 19, 2021. Born in Rochester, PA, he was the was the son of the late Byron R. and Edith M. Perry Barber. Beloved husband for 67 years of Gloria Halowell Barber; devoted father of David R. Barber (Carol) and Sandra Barber Bernert (William); loving grandfather of Nicholas D. Barber (Katie), Jonathan P. Bernert (Amy), Kimberly D. Fulem (Craig) and Rebecca C. Bernert; brother of the late Lois Barber Fischer (the late Raymond). Also survived by 8 great-grandchildren. Russ served as a Technical Sergeant with the Army during World War II. He worked for Mack Truck, Inc. and retired as a Regional Service Manager. He was a longtime active member of Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, where he was an usher and served on many committees, boards and service projects. He was also a member of the church’s Homebuilders Sunday School Class. In retirement, Russ volunteered at Asbury Heights and Meals on Wheels. The family will receive friends at Laughlin Cremation and Funeral Tributes, 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon, on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, from 4:00 until 7:00pm. All are welcome to attend his Memorial Service in Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church on Thursday morning at 11:30.
